MSc research survey

By Miss Serena Patel BDS | 28th July 2026 | News

Postgraduate student Miss Serena Patel at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, Is conducting a MSc research survey to gather the critical data needed to complete her master's study, while simultaneously driving forward the visibility of dental technicians.

Digital workflows are rapidly changing fixed prosthodontics, but they are still not fully understood, and dental technicians are too often completely left out of the research. This study aims to fundamentally bridge that gap. By actively giving technicians a dedicated voice alongside dentists, this research ensures that members' vital expertise, critical insights, and real-world perspectives are placed on equal footing to shape dental research and the future of our profession and industry.

The project: Assessing dentist-technician understanding of digital fixed prosthodontic workflows.

Target participants: Registered technicians with experience or exposure to digital fixed prosthodontics.

The survey: It is completely anonymous and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

The survey can be accessed here: https://qualtrics.ucl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_0Pa7959NSSo20VE

Your voices can really make a difference here and they would be:

  • Participating in UK-wide research: Participating in a UCL Eastman Dental Institute study mapping the use, understanding and collaboration within digital fixed prosthodontics workflows.
  • Elevating patient care: Helping set more reliable, predictable standards for digital restorations in fixed prosthodontics.
  • Closing the communication gap: Fostering better, more seamless teamwork between dentists and technicians.
  • Shaping education: Influencing how digital fixed prosthodontics training is taught
