Call for Northern Ireland Dental Laboratories - Apprenticeship Survey

By DTA | 13th January 2026 | News

With the BTEC in Dental Technology coming to an end, work is underway to explore sustainable training routes to support the future dental technology workforce in Northern Ireland. One option under consideration is the development of a new apprenticeship pathway.

To assess whether an apprenticeship model would be viable, we need to understand the level of support from dental laboratories across Northern Ireland—specifically, how many laboratories would be willing to employ an apprentice each year.

If you are a dental laboratory based in Northern Ireland, we would greatly appreciate your input. Your response will directly inform discussions with key stakeholders, including the Chief Dental Officer, and help shape future training provision.

Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey at the link below:

If you know of other dental laboratories operating in Northern Ireland, please share this survey within your professional networks to help ensure we reach as many relevant organisations as possible.

Your participation and support are vital to securing a skilled and sustainable workforce for the profession in Northern Ireland.
