Cybersecurity: practical steps for dental laboratories

By DTA | 28th October 2026 | News

Recent reports of security vulnerabilities affecting PHP have highlighted the importance of keeping websites and online systems secure.

While the DTA website has been assessed and confirmed as secure, we encourage members who manage their own websites, or use externally hosted platforms for bookings, payments or other business activities, to take sensible steps to maintain their online security.

Practical steps to consider

  • Check with your website provider. If you manage a website or online platform, ask your developer or hosting provider whether any services you use were affected by the recent PHP vulnerabilities and whether appropriate security measures have been taken.
  • Keep software up to date. Ensure your website, devices, browsers and security software receive recommended security updates.
  • Use strong, unique passwords. Avoid reusing passwords across different accounts and enable multi-factor authentication wherever available.
  • Be alert to suspicious communications. Take care with unexpected emails, text messages or phone calls requesting personal information, passwords or login details. Verify the sender if you are unsure.
  • Know who to contact. Make sure you know how to contact your website provider or IT support if you have concerns about the security of your systems.

These straightforward precautions can help protect your business, your information and the data you hold about customers and patients.
