DTA's Active Role in GDC Scope of Practice Guidance Update
By DTA | 8th July 2025 | News
The DTA has been actively involved in the ongoing update to the Scope of Practice guidance. In February, an updated version of the guidance was presented at a stakeholder event, reflecting the feedback received up to that point. A follow-up session was held in April to engage with additional professions and further refine the document.
The revised guidance is set to be published in September, along with the consultation outcome report. To support its implementation, the DTA will publish supporting materials to help dental professionals better understand and apply the guidance in practice.
The GDC state that "it is important to note that the revision aims to make the guidance clearer, more supportive, and better suited to allowing the exercise of professional judgement in the interest of patients, without changing the scope of any profession."
The DTA will continue to keep its members informed and will provide a comprehensive update once the revised guidance is published in September.
