Furlough Scheme Extension

By DTA | 2nd November 2020 | News

Alongside the announcement that England will enter a full four-week lockdown from 5 November, the Prime Minister also announced that the government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), also known as the Furlough scheme, will remain open until December.

The extended furlough scheme is more generous for employers than it was in October, employees will continue to receive 80% of their current salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500 and this will be fully funded by the government rather than the previous 60% contribution from the government with employers needing to contribute the additional 20%, as was the case in October. Employers will pay employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and pension contributions only for the hours the employee does not work.

Flexible furloughing will be allowed in addition to full-time furloughing.
