The government have introduced payments to support employers who hire new apprentices between 1 August 2020 and 31 March 2021. You can apply for the payment until 30 April 2021.
The payment is in addition to the £1,000 employers already receive for hiring an apprentice:
To receive incentive payments, employers will need to sign the latest employer agreement in their apprenticeship service account.
How it works
If employers take on apprentices as new employees between 1 August 2020 and 31 March 2021, they'll receive:
• £2,000 for apprentices aged 16 to 24
• £1,500 for apprentices aged 25 and over
The payment can be spent on things like their apprentice's uniform or salary and you do not have to pay it back.
