OVERVIEW
ORB Innovations have developed the ORB Sport smart mouthguard, see www.orbsport.com and are continuing to invest in the ongoing development of this advanced wearable technology. This is a freelance opportunity to assist in the manufacture of our products. As a company dedicated to innovating in the world of contact and combat sports, we are developing Smart Mouthguards that offer both protection and advanced tracking capabilities and require your expertise to help us manufacture high-quality and precise mouthguards
ROLE
The freelance Dental Technician will be responsible for:
• Conducting intra-oral 3D scanning using the latest scanning technology from Glidewell Dental (fastscan.io)
• Utilise your expertise in dental technology to fabricate dental appliances, including mouthguard moulds, bite registrations, and custom-fit mouthguard inserts. • Collaborate closely with our product development team to understand the design requirements and specifications for our smart mouthguards.
• Apply your knowledge of dental materials and techniques to ensure the production of high-quality, durable, and comfortable dental components.
• Follow industry best practices and safety guidelines to maintain a sterile and controlled environment throughout the fabrication process.
• Conduct meticulous quality control inspections to ensure that all dental components meet the required standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot any issues and provide recommendations for process improvement and optimisation.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in dental technology, materials, and techniques, and propose innovative approaches to enhance the functionality and performance of our dental components.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of the fabrication processes, materials used, and quality control measures undertaken.
• Adhere to project timelines and deliver high-quality dental components within agreed-upon deadlines.
• Maintain open communication channels with the project team to provide regular progress updates and address any questions or concerns that may arise.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
• High standard of proficiency in intra-oral 3D dental scanning
• Extensive knowledge of dental materials, equipment, and techniques, with a deep understanding of the fabrication process for dental appliances.
• Proficiency in using dental laboratory tools and equipment, including model trimming and vacuum forming.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dental components that meet industry standards and client expectations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in dental fabrication processes.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Familiarity with dental safety protocols.
• Flexible schedule and availability to work on a freelance basis, with the ability to accommodate project timelines and deadlines.
Desirable (additional)
• Familiarity with Erkodent products and tools.
• Knowledge and experience handling various dental processes such as plaster casting, metal casting, die trimming, metal polishing, wax modelling, wire bending, sandblasting, electroplating, electro-spot welding and CAD/CAM techniques.
