JOB VACANCY: The University of Greater Manchester - External Examiner

The University of Greater Manchester is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our Dental Technology and Dental Hygiene and Therapy Programmes to complement the Existing External examiner team within the Queens Dental Sciences Centre (QuDeSC).

External examiners play a central role in the maintenance of the standards of the University's awards and the currency of the curriculum. The duties will include the review of the students' academic work and attendance at exam boards (may be face to face or virtual). The successful candidate will be required to review samples of student work on modules within the Programmes, endorse marks to confirm that the marks are agreed, fully moderate and externally examine sets of results; submission of annual reports; attend appropriate boards of examiners and consider any Programme modifications. There is also a requirement to confirm at the corresponding Boards that the Apprenticeship Programmes' specific EPA requirements have been met.

The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing modules that are to be delivered at HE levels 4,5,6 and 7. The post will commence from October 2025.

External examiner appointments are typical for a period of four years. It is expected that the successful candidate should be suitably qualified with expertise in Dental Technology, Dental Hygiene and Therapy or a related area and have relevant HE experience, at the appropriate level. All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University's criteria for appointment and must have Right to Work in the UK.
