Is your organisation doing enough to support women going through Menopause?
Menopause can significantly impact a person's life, putting them through emotional, physical, and mental struggles.
It is also commonly acknowledged that Hormone Replacement Therapy, medication which is often prescribed for menopause, can have side effects which cause problems at work including nausea, headaches and leg cramps.
As a leader, it is your duty to protect your people and adhere to the Equality Act (2010) in making reasonable adjustments to an employee's role or working conditions.
With more people working through menopause than ever before, it's vital that employers put support systems in place. Support your employee's mental and emotional health by implementing a menopause policy.
The BADN Menopause Policy is available for DTA members and can be found as a guidance document - BADN Menopause Policy. We encourage all DT and Labs to adopt this policy into their work place, to support their co-workers who maybe affected.
The Menopause Policy is here to assist you in understanding and communicating the work place adjustments which may be required by those affected by menopause.
Implementing our Menopause Policy will help your organisation:
• Reduce absenteeism & presenteeism, increasing your bottom line
• Create a more positive attitude towards work & your organisation
• Increase productivity, reduce anxiety, & build effective teams
• Provide alternative ways for your people to resolve mental health related issues
We know just how important it is that employees are supported throughout the menopause, so that's why we support the BADN Menopause Policy which you can implement and create an open work culture and attitude towards the impact of menopause in the workplace.
