President's Blog - April 2018
Welcome to my first President's Blog. I'm delighted and honoured to be taking over as DTA President at this time of great change. 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of our member publication, The Technologist, and I believe we have much to celebrate. I look forward to working with colleagues on the DTA team to support our members.
At our management team meeting last month I was delighted to welcome Andy George, Adrian Rollings and Barry Tivey as observers for the day. Thank you for your input gentlemen and I hope to see you at our next meeting in June.
As part of the meeting we also met with Vikki Harper to discuss The Technologist and Articulate publications. DTA are planning significant changes to the publications to meet the demands of Enhanced Continuing Professional Development (ECPD). When you receive your next publication, you'll see that it is larger with peer reviewed CPD articles. I pleased to report that we have new authors onboard as well. We are doing a lot of work on providing ECPD for members and I'll tell you more about that next time.
We are currently recruiting new DTA management team members. Is this something you'd like to get involved with – running your Association on behalf of your dental technician colleagues?
To find out more contact Sue Adams on 01452 886366 for an informal chat. Alternatively, you can read the job description and download a nomination form from the website @ https://www.dta-uk.org/meet-the-team.php The closing date for nominations is 1 May 2018.
It's now just about 6 weeks until the doors open on the 2018 DTS event at the NEC in Birmingham. DTA will be there on stand H09 and looks forward to seeing you.
The event offers a range of speakers and topics for all members of the dental technology team, as well as an abundance of stands to visit. You can find out more and register for the show @ http://www.the-dts.co.uk/

Finally, a big thank you to my predecessor James for leading the Association over the past two years. I am delighted that James is continuing on the DTA team and I look forward to working with him and the other members of the team over the coming months.
