Get up to £2,000 for each new apprentice
Employers can receive £2,000 for each new apprentice age 16 to 24, or £1,500 for 25 and over. Employers can spend the payment on anything to support their organisation’s costs, from facilities and travel to uniforms and salaries. This is in addition to the £1,000 payment the government already give to help employers meet the needs of some groups of apprentices in the workplace.

The DTA calling for action by the government
A number of our members who are self-employed people, such as directors who pay themselves in dividends, freelancers, and the newly self-employed do not qualify for the government's self-employment support package. The DTA have called for action by the government to provide financial support to these individuals plus those who have not qualified for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Fallow time during COVID-19
Sara Hurley led a discussion on fallow time as a result of COVID-19 during the CDO England online workshops attended by Tony Griffin on behalf of the DTA.
The fallow period is the ‘time necessary for clearance of infectious aerosols after a procedure before decontamination of the surgery can begin’ (FGDP, 2020).

Your 2019–2020 CPD cycle year has now come to an end and you are required to submit a statement to the GDC by 28 August 2020, if you haven’t done so already. You don’t need to submit your records, but you do need to keep them safe just in case the GDC asks for your actual evidence. GDC Annual Renewal for all DCPs
Today, dental technologists will have received a letter from the GDC notifying that the Annual Renewal is due. Before the 31 July 2020 all dental technologists will need to pay the Annual Retention Fee (ARF), make a CPD statement and declare that they have, or will have, indemnity.
